There are some significant changes with the RD Exam and DTR exam that you need to know about, especially with the extended test time, which will make a huge impact on test takers. Read more about the changes just released by the Commission for Dietetic Registration (CDR). We’ll be writing more posts about this to address how the dietetics community feels about these changes.
1.Extended Test Time:
Starting March 15th, CDR is adding an additional 30 minutes to the test time for all candidates. This means the exam duration will increase from 2.5 to 3 hours (with total appointment time increasing from 3 to 3.5 hours including agreement, tutorial, testing time, and survey). They hope this extension aims to alleviate some time pressure, allowing individuals to approach each question with confidence and thoroughness.
2.Introduction of CDR’s Test Bundle Voucher:
Starting March 15, the test bundle voucher program will provide candidates with a second attempt to pass their RD/DTR exam at a discounted rate, if they are unsuccessful in their first attempt.
CDR hopes that by “investing in the Test Bundle, candidates can gain peace of mind, financial savings, and an opportunity to overcome test anxiety. For just $325 (RD) or $215 (DTR), candidates receive a voucher valid for two test attempts. This option can provide the support that some candidates need on the journey to becoming an RD or DTR and provide the reassurance to succeed. For more information on CDR’s Test Bundle Voucher, please visit our website.”
3. Adjustment in Test Fee: Starting June 1st, the cost of the RD exam will increase from $200 to $225 and the cost of the DTR exam will increase from $120 to $140.
Please share your thoughts with us and we’ll follow up with some insight from the professionals, and students who are directly impacted by these significant changes.
